With more than 35 years on the South African music and jazz scene as a musician, composer, conceptualizer, leader, producer of outstanding South African artists and strong proponent of Ubuntu, Steve has developed a reputation as one of the most visionary forces in South African music. His own brilliant projects and ensembles explore a wide variety of contexts as well as embracing many disciplines, including theater, dance and art. With more than 7 albums to his name, including the award-winning Genesis of a Different World, Steve’s unique combination of Southern African musical traditions with the best of the jazz tradition will give the audience a soulful, spiritual, joyous and uplifting experience. Recently completing a highly successful 8-city tour with his son Bokani Dyer in a duo called DyerLogue, (their first in the U.S), Steve will be returning to the U.S in 2024 with a dynamic ensemble that will embrace the full scope of his profound artistry.
